Risk assessments are important steps in protecting your staff, pupils and visitors and complying with the law. They help you to identify and focus on the most serious risks - the ones with the most potential to cause harm.
Commonly, straightforward measures can control risks. A risk assessment is simply a careful observation of our school in order to find what poses a risk to health and safety. It quickly allows us to decide whether our school is meeting its health and safety requirements.
The law does not expect your school to eliminate all risk. However, you are required to protect your school community as far as ‘reasonably practical’.
